How does a female alcoholic express her mental pain?

I work with a woman who is a functioning alcoholic. I know she drinks beer in the morning. She goes out during lunchtime and drinks.She runs home at night to drink. I guess she is a functioning alcoholic.Her husband doesn't like her to drink, she says he is an unemotional person.I am a woman and she flirts with me all day. I think she has a bad memory and forgets what she tells me. How much pain must she be in to live this way? I just want to be her friend. Does she realize the things she says or does? Is there anything I can do to comfort her?
