End of criminal record.?

My friend has 2 convictions one for ault and one for harrment. He recieved a non custodial sentence under british law. He was given a five year order to stay away from someone. The five year period is due to end soon. Will my friend recieve a letter or a phonecall from the authorities informing him that the five year period is now over.
