Question for doctors, nurses or phlebotamists........?
My daughter had blood-work done at the pediatricians office for a high viral fever. Long story short there was another child in the room before us so we had to wait. When we were called in the nurse, an LPN, already had everything setup . There was what appeared to be a clean paper towel , on it was an already unpackeged erfly needle, however there was a plastic piece still covering the needle end, no blood seen to the naked eye, and a cotton ball soaked in alcohol I guess and blood tubes. I did not see any tube holder though. I was so nervous because my daughter was crying and I was so upset I forgot to ask for a new needle to be opened in front of me. Is it odd for a ped office to set up and unpackage before the patient gets in the room? I am so nervous that a used needle could have been accidentally used because there was another child in the room with a different nurse before us. Please tell me if I should worry over this? thank you
