Should euthanasia (isted suicide) be introduced in UK?

We had a huge issue here in the U.S. just a few years ago. Terri Schiavo was in a vegatative state for more than seven years, while her husband fought to get her off machines, He finally "won" the case turning off her feeding machines, (she could breath on her own) and she slowly, painfully starved to death over the course of days. Look up this case as an example, would it not have been kinder to euthanize her than to let her suffer for days? I don't know your laws over there and if you have DNRs ( do not resuscitate) or if families can have life support turned off, But here in the U.S. we do. Many of us over here protested her starvation too, the cruelty of her suffering still strikes a nerve.
